WHO WE ARE
Entrepreneurs of Kefalonia.
We are entrepreneurs of Kefalonia. Some of us grew up here or have roots here, others chose the island. We come from different countries, professions and backgrounds. Greek or foreign, we are all steeped in Greek culture, as the philhellenes were before us.
We share one aim: to give our island a direction. We bring the best of what we have learned in other countries and cultures to its development and to the course we want it to take. We act in three ways. Economic, by building and backing companies. Financial, by investing capital on the island and across the Ionian. Philanthropic, by giving back through Meraki, our philanthropic initiative.
LEADERSHIP
Aurélien (Γεράσιμος) Boch
Chairman, Kefalonia World
Aurélien chairs Kefalonia World. Of Greek origin, he grew up in France and has made Kefalonia his home.
A former Microsoft employee, he specialises in deploying technology and artificial intelligence tools in large international organisations. He also teaches at Panteion University in Athens as a lecturer. Alongside, he builds companies and projects on the island.
Chara Moschopoulou
General Manager, Kefalonia World
Chara is General Manager of Kefalonia World, where she runs the group's activities day to day. She is also Vice-President of Meraki, the Kefalonian think tank, and co-leads its work.
She followed a dual course of study, in sociology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and in psychology at Oxford Brookes University. She founded her first company at 19, specialising in fire prevention studies.
VISION
Kefalonia lies on the route between Western and Eastern Europe, in a region of growing strategic weight. Its geography and its particular climate also give it a degree of protection against climate change that much of the region does not enjoy. For these reasons, we believe Kefalonia is exceptionally well placed to build a strong, varied economy of its own, one that does not rest on tourism alone and stands firm in a crisis. We see a Kefalonia where young people choose to stay and capital finds serious projects. Where decisions on its economy, taxation, immigration and local governance are taken on the island, by the people who know it best.
HOW WE GET THERE
Our purpose is to give Kefalonia the means to shape its own future. We believe that everyone can move the world forward, at their own scale and with their own means. This is what we do, and what we encourage everyone to do. So we begin with what we can build ourselves, one step at a time. We invest capital in property, financial assets and companies, and we run operating businesses on the island. We train and back young entrepreneurs, so that talent can build its future here. We bring together people who turn long-term thinking into real progress, and we publish well-researched studies, open to anyone who wants to use them. We prefer results to words.
